Born and raised in Morocco, Yasmine attended Columbia University. There, she majored in film studies and pursued a minor in mathematics. She recently moved to Paris to pursue her love of film-making and earned a master's degree in political arts (SPEAP) from Sciences Po. Her interests lie at the intersection of the arts, natural sciences, political sciences, and social sciences. Over the course of her educational career, she has acquired extensive tutoring experience. At Bespoke, Yasmine tutors the SAT, SAT subject tests in math, and math-related coursework.
Taylor grew up in San Diego and attended the University of Nevada, Reno for both his undergraduate and graduate degrees. While working towards his BS in mathematics, Taylor played on the university's NCAA Division I golf team. Taylor remained at UNR to pursue his master's degree in applied mathematics; his work was focused on discrete mathematics with an emphasis in game theory and operations research. During that time, he also taught algebra and provided one-on-one math tutoring to university athletes; his summers were spent teaching geometry at Saint Augustine High School in San Diego. At Bespoke, Taylor tutors the SAT, SAT subject tests in math, and a wide range of math-related subjects.
Adam graduated with honors from the University of Western Ontario in Canada, where he earned a BS in medical science and a BA in French. He also holds a master’s degree in medical molecular imaging from the University of Paris XI and the Curie Institute. Throughout his educational career, Adam has used math, physics, biology, and chemistry extensively. Since high school, he has been tutoring students in science and math. At Bespoke, Adam helps students prepare for the SAT, ACT, and SAT subject tests in math, physics, chemistry, and biology.
Marine grew up in San Francisco and Paris. She went to high school at EJM, where she successfully completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. She attended Barnard College of Columbia University and graduated with a double major in political science and gender studies. During college, Marine’s passion for teaching inspired her to volunteer in underserved NYC high schools, where she taught health education and civic engagement. After graduation, Marine was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to pursue research in Argentina, where she combined her passion for investigative journalism and writing. Marine’s research has been published in scholarly reviews in Argentina and Brazil, and she has presented her work at several anthropology conferences. At Bespoke, she tutors the SAT, ACT, ISEE, SSAT, and various school subjects.
Kyra is originally from Michigan, where she attended the first IB high school in the state. She received her BA in Romance Languages and Arts & Ideas, along with minors in Translation and International Studies, from the University of Michigan. Her next stop was Paris VII, where she obtained a master's degree in Specialized Translation. Kyra now works as a freelance translator specializing in finance and is also the Paris Artistic Director of Danse Theatre Surreality, a binational dance and theater collective. She has tutored French and Spanish for the University of Michigan Athletic Department and has given private English lessons to students in Paris. At Bespoke, Kyra tutors the ACT, SAT, SAT subject tests, and IB.
John has an undergraduate degree in philosophy from University of Chicago and a PhD in molecular genetics from University of Paris XI, Faculté de Médecine. He is an adjunct professor of environmental science and economics, and he conducts research in evolutionary biology. John has been tutoring the GMAT, GRE, and SAT for over 12 years.
Chris Knapp has a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of Virginia, where he was a Poe/Faulkner Fellow in Fiction. He has taught creative writing at the university level and has worked with high school students on the essay portions of their college applications in France and the US. He teaches the Reading and Writing portion of the SAT, the SAT II in Literature, and also provides academic support in literature, history, and English classes. His writing has appeared in the Paris Review, the New England Review, and the Los Angeles Review of Books, among other places.
Meg grew up in Arkansas and graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a BA in English. She then obtained an MA in French from Middlebury College and a PhD in French from Duke University. Her research led her to spend a year in Sub-Saharan Africa, where she studied contemporary African literature and culture. Now in Paris, she teaches public speaking and human relations skills to adults at the Dale Carnegie Center. At Bespoke, Meg tutors the SAT, ACT, IELTS, ISEE, and SSAT, as well as English and writing. She also helps students develop college entrance essays.
Abbie McLean is originally from Portland, Oregon. As an undergraduate, she studied history and politics at the American University of Paris, graduating summa cum laude and with departmental honors. She then obtained an MSc in Middle Eastern Studies and Arabic with honors from the University of Edinburgh. Having returned to Paris, Abbie is now pursuing a master’s degree in European Affairs at Paris IV. She has taught a wide variety of subjects, ranging from Arabic to statistics, over her academic career. At Bespoke, Abbie tutors the SAT and ACT.
Rebecca grew up in Paris, France but studied English at the University of California, Berkeley, graduating with honors. As an undergraduate, she volunteered in the advising office and tutored both in an elementary school and at San Quentin State Prison. After completing her BA, she joined the Teach For America program and taught first grade in Mississippi for two years. She is now studying literary theory at the École Normale Supérieure and gender studies at the University of Paris VIII. At Bespoke, Rebecca tutors the SAT, ACT, SAT subject tests, ISEE, and SSAT; she also helps students with writing and essays.
A California native, Jessica has a PhD in biology from the University of Utah. She worked as a research associate at the CNRS in Montpellier, France and the CSIC in Seville, Spain before leaving academia to start her own scientific editing and translation business. Throughout her scientific career, she worked extensively with high school and undergraduate students, teaching lecture, laboratory, and field courses. At Bespoke, Jessica is the Director of Paris Tutoring Services. As time allows, she also tutors the SAT, ACT, SAT subject tests in biology and math, IB Biology, AP Biology, and AP Statistics.
Joshua comes from New Jersey by way of Los Angeles and holds a BA in French (with a minor in chemistry) from New York University. He also has an MA and PhD in French, and a graduate certificate in gender and sexuality studies, from Princeton University. Joshua completed his doctoral dissertation while serving as a visiting researcher at the École Normale Supérieure and Sciences Po Paris. His research has been published in Nottingham French Studies and Mosaic: An Interdisciplinary Critical Journal.
Aysegul spent her childhood and adolescence in London, Copenhagen, and Istanbul. She successfully completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program and went on to received a BA in anthropology from Middlebury College. Aysegul was awarded highest honors for her senior thesis based on her fieldwork with Kurdish immigrant women in Istanbul. As an undergraduate, she also studied abroad in Russia and France. Aysegul went on to receive a Master of Fine Arts in writing from the University of San Francisco. Today, she lives in Paris, where she is working on a novel and essays. Aysegul has taught creative writing workshops for college students, designed a creative writing class for inner-city children in Istanbul, and continues to give literature classes to master's students. At Bespoke, Aysegul tutors the reading and writing sections of the SAT. She also helps students with English courses as well as with college and grad school application essays.
Jonathan grew up in New York City, attended the Dalton School, and received a BA with Honors from Yale University. After pursuing graduate music studies at the Juilliard School, he came to France as a Fulbright Scholar to study music composition. An accomplished conductor, Jonathan has worked with over fifty orchestras and opera houses throughout Europe. Jonathan is also a published author and one of the hosts of “Spoken Word,” Paris’s preeminent Anglophone open-mic. Jonathan has over a decade of experience teaching ISEE and SAT prep, SAT subject tests, creative writing, music theory, and music composition.
Originally from New York City and Paris, Sultana attended Boston College, where she studied Political Science and Communications. While at university, she took part in Jumpstart, an AmeriCorps program, and worked with children in South Boston. After graduating, she moved to Israel to complete a teaching fellowship. In Paris, Sultana works as a language instructor at ESCP Europe in parallel with her work for Bespoke, where she tutors the SAT, ACT, and SAT subject tests.
