Yosef was raised in St. Paul, Minnesota. He graduated from the University of Minnesota summa cum laude with a degree in Psychology. He was a special education tutor and mental health counselor during and after college. As a counselor in a residential facility, he applied his creativity and scientific knowledge to creating educational modules on neuroscience and psychology and applying behavioral therapy on the units. Yosef completed his master’s degree on his way to finishing a doctorate in clinical psychology at St. John’s University. In addition to being a researcher, he is a child psychotherapist and has extensive training in psychological and academic assessments. He applies his personable character, problem-solving skills, and a knack for monitoring goals to his work as a tutor. Yosef tutors students in a variety of subjects including all sections of the ISEE, SSAT, SHSAT, ACT and SAT.
Leanne grew up in Scarsdale and graduated from Vassar College with a B.A. in Psychology and departmental honors. She earned her Master's Degree in Childhood Special Education from New York University. Leanne has dual New York State teaching certification in general and special education as well as six years of experience as an elementary school classroom teacher in New York City. Leanne has been tutoring K-12 students with and without special needs for 8 years. In addition to providing academic support, Leanne specializes in behavioral issues and teaches time management, organization, and study skills. Leanne also tutors for all sections of the ISEE, SSAT, SHSAT, and TACHS. Leanne designs unique lessons that are tailored to each student's specific strengths, needs, and interests. Leanne is also an award-winning educational media producer/writer. She makes educational videos and writes teacher guides, lesson plans, and other supplemental educational materials used in schools.
Daniel grew up on Long Island and attended Hewlett High School where he was named a National Merit Finalist and AP Scholar with Distinction. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Delaware, earning a BS in Biochemistry and BA in Liberal Studies as a Eugene duPont Memorial Scholar. Daniel holds an MFA from UNC Chapel Hill. His teaching and tutoring roles have ranged from MCAT test prep to writing to Shakespearean performance. Daniel tutors all levels of Biology and Chemistry, and all sections of the SAT and ACT.
Jessica grew up in California and earned her BS in biological psychology at the University of California, Davis. She then worked full time for two years doing research with infants and young children with developmental disorders. Jessica received her MA and PhD in Psychology at the University of California, Davis where her main research focus was on investigating early predictors of anxiety through the lens of cognitive developmental neuroscience. During graduate school, Jessica taught courses at UC Davis, and tutored undergraduate students in both one-on-one and group settings. She is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at Rutgers University, where she researches both typical and atypical brain and cognitive development with the aim of identifying risk factors for future anxiety in young infants growing up in poverty. Within this framework, her work specifically investigates how the brain attends to and processes negative emotions. Jessica has a decade of experience working with children of all ages, and extensive knowledge of both typical and atypical patterns of cognitive development. She tutors the SAT, ACT, ISEE, SSAT, SHSAT, and all levels of Biology.
Meghan graduated from New York University where she studied Chemistry and minored in Mathematics. As part of a dual-degree program, she also received a degree in Chemical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology. Meghan has tutored middle and high school students primarily in STEM topics with several organizations. She has also facilitated workshops for high school students in topics fundamental to careers in STEM. Meghan tutors for all sections of the SAT, ACT, ISEE, SSAT and SHSAT, and all levels of math, chemistry and biology.
Helen graduated magna cum laude from Barnard with a BA in Comparative Literature and completed an MFA in acting at Juilliard. For almost a decade, Helen has enjoyed guiding her students through individually curated programs to achieve their academic goals. She teaches all sections of the SAT and ACT, as well as the SSAT, ISEE, SHSAT, AP French, college essays, and several SAT Subject Tests.
Billy Cohen graduated from Princeton University with a Bachelors in Religion and minor in Theater. Originally from Houston, Texas, Billy was a National Merit Scholar and the recipient of the Headmaster's Award at Episcopal High School. At Princeton, Billy received the Outstanding Senior Thesis Award and tutored test prep to local high schoolers with Princeton Tutoring. With Bespoke, Billy provides academic counseling, college essay guidance, and tutoring for all sections of the SAT, ACT, ISEE, SSAT, and SHSAT. He also tutors the SAT Math I and Math II subject tests. Outside of tutoring, Billy is an actor, performing regularly in New York and abroad.
Paul graduated from Brown University magna cum laude with degrees in Biology and Public Policy, and earned an M.F.A. in Acting at the Yale School of Drama. Over the past few years, Paul has tutored students in biology, organic chemistry, and writing, and taught MCAT classes through Kaplan. Paul currently tutors students in biology, chemistry, math, and all sections of the ISEE, SSAT, SAT and ACT.
Robert holds degrees in Physics and Education from The University of Rochester and San Francisco State University and has completed advanced coursework at Columbia and UC Berkeley. Robert has been a physics teacher at Scarsdale High School for many years, and has instructed all levels of physics from non-Regents to Advanced Placement. Robert tutors for all levels of physics including for the AP and Subject Test, and for algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
Jessica grew up in Irvington, NY, attended Irvington High School, and graduated cum laude from Cornell University with a B.S. in Animal Science. At Cornell, she was a teaching assistant in the biological sciences. Jessica began working for Bespoke soon after graduation and has tutored now for many years with Bespoke in Westchester. She is currently the accounts and administration manager for her family business, Faust Harrison Pianos, in White Plains. Jessica specializes in math and biology, and helps prepare students for Regents exams, Subject Tests, and all sections of the ISEE, SSAT, SAT and ACT.
Kara grew up near Seattle, where she earned a National Merit Scholarship and won the national Superbowl of High School Calculus. She attended Brigham Young University on its prestigious Hinckley Scholarship, where she received a BFA in Music-Dance-Theatre and a minor in Mathematics. As a musical theatre performer, Kara toured and taught workshops to children of all ages across the United States, as well as in China, Hong Kong, Mexico and the Caribbean Islands. Kara tutors all levels of mathematics, provides homework help, and prepares students for all sections of the ISEE, SHSAT, SSAT, SAT and ACT. She also teaches SAT and ACT classes in Bespoke's offices. As a long-time Bespoke tutor, Kara mentors newer tutors and works in curriculum development writing the math sections of lesson books and mock tests. She was most recently seen onstage as Pinkalicious in off-Broadway's Pinkalicious the Musical, and is now enjoying raising her own little girls.
Akaash grew up in Westchester where he attended Hackley School. He earned his B.S. in Industrial Engineering and M.S. in Operations Research from Columbia University, having previously undertook coursework at Harvard University and Pomona College. During his time at Columbia, Akaash worked as a teaching assistant for graduate courses in engineering. He has considerable experience teaching a dozen AP exams (e.g. Statistics, Calculus BC, English Lang & Lit, Physics C, and Chemistry) and earned the National AP Scholar Award himself. He also teaches the SAT and its subject tests in Math, Chemistry, Physics, and Literature as well as the ACT, GRE, ISEE, SSAT, SHSAT, and Hunter College Test. In his free time, Akaash is an avid skier and fencer; he also enjoys painting and sailing.
Mitchel attended Yale University where he received a B.A. in Theater Studies with distinction. While at Yale he sang with the world-famous Whiffenpoofs and performed throughout the United States and on all seven continents. He then studied at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. He enjoys using test prep to not only help students raise their scores but also improve their study skills and gain confidence in their schoolwork. Mitchel provides academic support for writing and prepares students for the SAT, ACT, ISEE, and SSAT. He coordinates Bespoke's remote tutor training, preparing other tutors to work with students via video chat when in-person sessions are not possible.
Ashton graduated from Saint Ann’s and received a B.A. in English from Amherst College, with concentrations in creative writing and modernist literature. He tutors all sections of the ISEE, SSAT, SHSAT, SAT, ACT, Biology Subject Test, and provides academic support for geometry, trigonometry, and algebra. He also teaches English as a second language at the English-Speaking Union, and helps students with their college application essays.
Nate graduated from Yale University with degrees in History and Theater Studies. As one of Bespoke's most sought-after tutors, Nate focuses on demystifying the daunting process of test-preparation and helps each student achieve his or her maximum potential in an engaging environment. He prepares students for all sections of the SAT, ACT, ISEE, SSAT, SHSAT, and the Math and History Subject Tests.
Emily received a M.S. Ed. from Bank Street College of Education and a B.A. in Government. She has held a variety of positions in schools including most recently at Whitby School in Greenwich, Connecticut as an English teacher and Learning Specialist. She was the literacy coach and grant coordinator at P.S.188 in lower Manhattan, an elementary school teacher at P.S. 124 in Brooklyn, and a 3rd grade teacher at City & Country School. She fosters the cognitive and social-emotional growth of children through meaningful instruction that emphasizes both collaboration and exploration. Drawing upon her vast experience as a classroom teacher, school based literacy coach, and an instructional consultant, she deeply engages students by developing dynamic curriculum that is tailored to fit individual learning profiles, growth trajectories and interests.
Penka received her MS degree in Physics from Boston College. While at Boston College, Penka worked as a teaching assistant for undergraduate and graduate courses in Physics, a Research Assistant and a Physics tutor. Currently, Penka teaches in a private high school in Connecticut and is adjunct professor in the Physical Sciences Department at Westchester Community College. Penka tutors all levels of Physics.
Laura grew up in Bronxville, graduated from Bronxville High School, and then attended Roanoke College in Virginia, where she graduated with a BA in Language. Laura spent the next 10 years working for Merrill Lynch in Boston, Princeton, and New York. Over the years she has served on many boards, including six years on the Bronxville School Foundation, which helps strengthen the school's curriculum by serving as a catalyst for the development and promotion of innovative programs. Additionally, Laura is a substitute teacher at a local nursery school where play activities are used to facilitate children’s social, physical and emotional progression. She has lived in Bronxville most of her life raising her 4 children with her husband Jeff.
Jessica graduated magna cum laude from Case Western Reserve University with a degree in Child Developmental Psychology. After college, Jessica applied for Foreign Expert Certification and moved to Xi’an, China to be an English professor. Upon returning to the US, she has continued to tutor, using her experience in a globally-inclusive educational environment to help students of all backgrounds to excel academically. Jessica is an experienced SAT, ACT, TACHS, ISEE, SHSAT and SSAT tutor, and she also teaches English, organizational and study skills, mathematics, and multiple foreign languages including German, Russian, Chinese, and Latin.
Ida graduated from Wellesley College magna cum laude with a dual degree in English and Sociology, and received both her M.A. (English and American Literature) and Ph.D. (American Literature) from Boston University. She has delivered papers at scholarly conferences both nationally and internationally, and has had critical work published by Oxford University Press and Leviathan. In addition to her ten years of experience teaching writing and English courses in a university setting, Ida has worked for six years as the Writing Elective Director and college counselor for high school students with the Great Books Summer Program at Amherst College and Stanford University. Since moving to New York in 2011, Ida has worked as a college essay specialist, test prep counselor, and academic tutor for middle and high school students. Ida’s specialties and interests include academic tutoring in literature, English, writing, and history, as well as preparing students for the SAT, ACT, ISEE, SSAT, SHSAT, and Literature and History APs and Subject Tests.
Jeremy first majored in Environmental Engineering at Penn State University and went on to graduate magna cum laude from Muhlenberg College with a B.A. in Theatre and a minor in Business Administration. While an undergrad, he worked as a tutor in Financial Accounting. Jeremy teaches regular Bespoke classes, and he tutors Chemistry and all sections of the ISEE, SSAT, SHSAT, ACT and SAT.
Noah received a B.A. from Dartmouth College where he created a special major that combined the Theater and Music curricula to better study the art and business of the Broadway Musical. He was the valedictorian of his high school in Southwest Florida, and was the statewide individual Mock Trial champion for two years. Noah has worked with students ranging from elementary school to college; he prepares them for a variety of standardized tests and subjects, including math through calculus and all sections of the ISEE, SSAT, SHSAT, SAT and ACT.
Kierstyn graduated from Stanford University with a BA in Human Biology with a concentration in Global Women's Health. She recently completed her Postbaccalaureate Premedical Certification at Columbia University, and plans to attend medical school in the fall of 2020. Kierstyn tutors the AP English exams, the Literature Subject Test, all sections of the SAT and ACT, as well as all levels of math, biology and chemistry.
Liba graduated with distinction from Yale with degrees in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology and International Studies. She received her MFA from Columbia University. She has worked with Kaplan & Flagship before joining the Bespoke team and has years of experience working with students in various private and public schools and universities in New York, with a focus on the sciences, history and writing. She is a passionate tutor devoted to building confidence in her students in and outside the classroom. Liba tutors for many SAT Subject Tests, and all sections of the ISEE, SSAT, SHSAT, SAT and ACT.
Nick grew up in Minneapolis and studied math, science and music at the University of Minnesota. He completed his B.M. at New England Conservatory in Boston, graduating with distinction. Nick has been teaching and tutoring for over ten years and has taught SAT and ACT prep classes for a variety of test prep companies in New York area high schools. He is also a jazz saxophonist and performs regularly in New York. Nick tutors all sections of the SAT, ACT, ISEE, SSAT, SHSAT and SAT Math Subject Tests. He also tutors math and music and has experience working with home-schooled students in middle and high school.
Amy grew up in Westchester County and graduated with honors from the College of William & Mary, where she majored in International Relations and minored in Mathematics. As a Fulbright Scholar, she studied at Uppsala University in Sweden, completing a quantitative analysis thesis in Peace and Conflict studies. Amy earned an MA and JD from Fordham University and has worked in both corporate law and as a researcher in international human rights law. Jordan grew up in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY and attended Brown University where he was a volunteer tutor in the Providence schools. After graduating from Brown with a B.A. in Anthropology, Jordan taught and designed curriculum for SAT test prep classes at Kaplan in locations as varied as Seoul, South Korea, Bangkok, Thailand, and White Plains, New York. He tutors a wide array of standardized tests including the history Subject Tests and APs.
